The Patchymatt Disco

MUCH MORE THAN JUST A DISCO

Martlesham Heath Aviation Society Open Day

On Sunday 14th September 2008, as the previous three years, THE PATCHYMATT EVENT SUPPORT TEAM supplied the live commentary and PA system for the control tower open day at MARTLESHAM HEATH. The weather was kind to us, if not a bit chilly at times.

There was a great turnout of both millitary and classic vehicles and there atmoshere truly took everyone back in time to the war years. There were numerous static displays as well as a few visiting aircraft as well.

I was priviliged to meet and interview a number of ex servicemen including a gentleman who is 94 years young and flew over 40 bombing missions and was wearing his original RAF uniform. Another ex serviceman 92 flew over 1000, yes 1000 missions in a variety of aircraft including DC3 Dakota's. He had travelled to see the flypast by the BATTLE OF BRITAIN MEMORIAL FLIGHT DC3 at 4pm, which I have to say was unforgetable, AND VERY LOW!!

With jive dancers, a USAF briefing room and everything else that was going on....a fantastic day

I must also mention Jim from Portsmouth and his wife.Jim served at Martlesham during the 50's if my memory is correct and was paying his first visit back to the tower since he finished his time there (Jim, the dakota pictures are in the gallery as promised)

DJ Patchy and Mrs Patchy 30th wedding anniversary

Dj Patchy and Mrs Patchy celebrated there Pearl Wedding on Friday 7th Nov 2008. In front of an invited audience The patchymatt Disco and a number of local artists performed a glittering night of music. Held At Greshams in Ipswich the night was opened by local singer/songwriter LOUISA GAYLARD who showed why she is regarded as one of the shinning new talents to emerge on the Ipswich music scene.

Performing her own compositions and a few "covers" she spelbound a captive audience with her 45 min set.

Louisa was followed by a long time friend of the family, DEAN VINYARD, who's short set stunned the audience. Dean, who many years ago was one of the PATCHYMATT roadies, had only come along for old times sake but we could not miss the opputunity to hear him sing and the descision to unleash him was only made about 20 mins before Louisa went on stage. In a word, outstanding!!

Our final live act were our very good friends,"COMMITTED TO THE BLUES BROTHERS", who once again came up with a breathtaking set of vinatge Blues Brothers and Committments tracks. If you look at the images taken on the night in the photo gallery, you will, however see that at times the Blues Brothers became the Blues Triplets!!

DJ Matty B finished off the proceedings with a very polished DJ set to round off what was a memorable evening.

Mrs Patchy and I would just like to thank everyone who performed, for all the fantastic presents and the staff of Greshams and 5 star catering. All in all......not a bad night at all.

Ipswich Mencap Charity Ball 2009

On the 1st Janurary 2009 we announced that we were adding a fourth charity to our sponsorship scheme IPSWICH MENCAP. We have known Barbara, the chairperson of the charity and her family for many years as customers of the PATCHYMATT DISCO and it seemed to be a natural progression to bring the charity on board and help them with there fund raiseing activities.

Together with this announcement we also agreed to be the main sponsors for the charities annual fund raiseing ball to be held on the 9th Oct 2009. We have arranged for a number of local artist's to perform at the event with none of them taking any fee. Several local companies have given finanical support and/or pledged services for the event. For more details please go to THE IPSWICH MENCAP SPONSORS WEBSITE  which has been set up to support the companies and individuals who are helping us make this event a night to remember.

Update on Mencap Charity Ball
